REVIEWS

“A must have disc! These recordings represent a gold mine of early Mexican-American music revealing the roots of both Tejano and Conjunto music and the difference between the two styles. If you like Freddie Fender’s current work with the Texas Tornados you’ll be hooked by his Spanish language version of the classic `Corrina Corrina.’”

(Ben Tavera King — San Antonio Express News)

“Volume one kicks off with the great Conjunto Bernal and `Mi Único Camino’ and never lets up. It is a sampler and covers the whole spectrum of Ideal’s music; waltzes boleros polkas blues from Freddie Fender and rock and roll from Eddie con Los Shades. These CDs are the real thing designed to sell to the Hispanic population of America as much as to Anglo collectors. If you want to bop around the floor or just sit at the bar and reununciar una lagrima furtiva en su cerveza you can do it in style to these recordings.”

(Keith Briggs — Blues and Rhythm)
