Bay Area’s “Super Group” Mariachi band CON PERMISO will perform for free at Down Home. The performing members hail from previous bands such as Spot 1019, Cat Heads, SF Seals, Wannabe Texans, Mingo 2000, Stymie, Hobbit NYC, and more. Con Permiso is known for its eclectic, organic, and sometimes reverent performances. The band combines homespun vocals with instruments like vihuela, bass, accordion, violin, percussion, and blendy horns. They deliver non-standard interpretations and translations of standard mariachi repertoire, using the genre’s traditional instrumentation as a springboard for their explorations of obscure cover tunes and originals.
