James Swinson and Tania Fardella first met at an open mic at the Starry Plough in Berkeley, CA in 1997 and began playing music together as “The Wildflowers” in late 1998. Over the years they crafted a unique blend of double rhythm guitar/vocal harmony in the indie rock/powerpop traditions. Drawing comparisons to such diverse bands such as X, The Replacements, and The Byrds, they formed Rockinghorse in 2002, playing original songs written by Swinson. Other members of Rocking Horse are lead guitarist Chris Bryant (Gargaland Rodeo and the SF indie band Wild for Kate) and bassist Greg Novak formerly of the The Formers and Speedwell. In 2007 Rocking Horse released their first CD, put into rotation on KALX radio, and are currently preparing the release of their new CD Dirt & Glitter.
